The Aberdeen IronBirds fans lucky enough to grab tickets for Thursday's 7:05 p.m. matchup at Ripken Stadium will be treated to a never-before-seen promotion, as Team Ghost Riders and Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard, a crew of monkey cowboys, their dog steeds and the ex-rodeo rider who put the act together, will perform between innings.
Team Ghost Riders, which has received coverage from national sports publications, is a collection of four monkey-and-dog pairs that perform a miniature rodeos at sporting events across the country.
Thursday night will be Team Ghost Riders' first appearance in Aberdeen.
Lepard, a bull and bronco rider who quit the sport after undergoing his ninth surgery, decided to start up a comedy routine following his retirement, and fell upon the idea of monkeys riding dogs. Since starting the act, he and the team have won Comedy Act of the Year at the International Finals Rodeo three times.
Tickets for Thursday's game are still available for those interested in seeing the IronBirds, who have been winning more than losing of late, and Team Ghost Riders. To purchase tickets, visit the IronBirds website.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
