Ohio University freshman swimmer Carrie Dukes, a 2013 graduate of The John School, was awarded the Ohio University Tad Potter Memorial Award at an athletics dinner Saturday evening.

This award is given annually to the swimming and diving student-athlete who demonstrates conduct, leadership, sportsmanship, fellowship and courage throughout the season.

Dukes is the first freshman recipient of the award and she capped off her season with a Top 15 finish in the 100 butterfly at the Mid-American Championships. Her time of 55.66 was a personal best and ranks in the top 10 fastest times at Ohio University. She is also a dean's list student for 2013-14.
