Chick-fil-A will be hatching in Aberdeen in a matter of months.
Construction is under way on the popular fast-food restaurant at the southwest corner of Route 22 and Beards Hill Road.
The restaurant received its permits from the city in mid-March and is expected to open in three to four months, City Manager Doug Miller said Monday afternoon.
A popular business on the busiest retail corner in Aberdeen promises to be good news for the city, Steve Johnson, chairman of the city's Economic Development Commission, said.
"They are a national organization. They have a great reputation," Johnson said of Chick-fil-A. "A lot of folks have been asking, 'When are they going to get here?'"
"They will be a good asset," he said, noting the area of Route 22 and Beards Hill continues to flourish.
"That is the most popular corner in Aberdeen," Johnson said. "I am glad to see, when a lot of things are standing still in Aberdeen, it's been able to keep moving forward."
The busy intersection of Beards Hill Road and Route 22 is also set to get a Firestone Total Auto Care Center, which will be just north off of Beards Hill Road.
The construction is the latest in a flurry of development in the area. The second part of The Corner at Beards Hill shopping center is also being completed, near the West Bel Air Avenue intersection.
The Aberdeen location with be Chick-fil-A's third restaurant in Harford County.
Their Forest Hill location had Chick-fil-A's biggest opening weekend in Maryland ever when it was unveiled in 2012, with dozens of people camping out ahead of the opening.
Chick-fil-A also has a franchise in Abingdon.
