Two men charged in Aberdeen BB gun shooting on Monday

Two men were charged Monday evening with shooting another man with a BB gun in Aberdeen, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported.

Sheriff's Office deputies responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the first block of Spesutia Road in the Aberdeen area, where a 59-year-old man said he was hit on the back of the leg with a BB, according to a press release.

The man said he had been standing in his driveway talking to a friend when an orange Jeep Wrangler drove by and he was hit.

The man said the shot stung, but he refused medical treatment, according to the release.

He said he noticed the back window of the Jeep was open and a passenger was holding something black and laughing as the vehicle drove on Route 40 toward Edgewood, according to the release.

Matthew Joseph Humphries, 18, of the 3900 block of Love Avenue in Edgewood, was identified as a suspect in the shooting, according to police.

A loaded BB rifle with a folding stock was later found in the vehicle, which was pulled over at 7-Eleven at Route 40 and Long Bar Harbor Road.

Humphries and a driver, Patrick Michael McDermott, 18, of the 1300 block of Winding Valley Drive in Joppa, were both charged with first- and second-degree assault, according to the statement.

Both were taken to Harford County Detention Center, where they were held on $100,000 bail; McDermott posted the bond and was released, Humphries was still being held.

Two other passengers were also in the car, but were not charged, according to the statement.
