Harford County jail inmate captured after accidental release

Harford County Sheriff's Office officials are investigating how an inmate was accidentally released from the Harford County Detention Center on Valentine's Day.

Rodney Wanzer, 48, of Havre de Grace, was released by accident last Friday, Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, reported Thursday via e-mail.

He was serving a sentence for violation of probation and was scheduled to be released in February 2015.

Members of the Sheriff's Office Warrant-Fugitive Unit arrested Wanzer Wednesday in the 800 block of Ohio Street in Havre de Grace, Hopkins stated.

"We currently have an internal investigation underway to determine how this occurred," Hopkins stated.
