A motor home in Aberdeen was damaged by fire early Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

The 1995 Fleetwood Southwind motor home caught fire in a driveway in the 600 block of Custis Street at 5:45 a.m., according to a Fire Marshal's Office notice of investigation.

The residence sustained about $15,000 damage. About 30 firefighters from Aberdeen, Level, Abingdon and Susquehanna Hose companies and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department spent about 30 minutes dousing it, according to the notice of investigation.

The Aberdeen Police Department also assisted.

The fire started inside the 35-foot long motor home and caused damage to two adjacent properties, according to the notice of investigation. The occupants are being assisted by Harford Disaster Services.

The Fire Marshal's Office said the cause is under investigation.

Although the fire occurred around the same time as thunderstorms were passing through the area and there were reported tornado sightings, Aberdeen Police Department spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said the fire does not appear to be related to the storm.
