Winning $1 million lottery ticket sold in Aberdeen

A winning second-tier $1 million ticket for Saturday night's Powerball drawing was sold at the Maryland House on I-95 in Aberdeen, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.

Late last year, the lottery adjusted its rules, which contributed to larger jackpots. The lottery now pulls from a pool of 75 white balls and 15 yellow "mega" balls.

The change has resulted in more lower-tier winners, but has made the top prize more difficult to come by. The odds of winning the jackpot, reported The Baltimore Sun at the time, used to be 1 in 176 million, and as of Oct. 22, 2013, they changed to 1 in 259 million.
