The school board unanimously approved Chesney, who was recommended for the appointment by new Howard Superintendent Renee Foose, the former deputy superintendent for Baltimore County public schools. Both were hired by the Baltimore County after serving in the Montgomery County School System.
"She comes to us with a wealth of information and a very strong background, a firm understanding of what we need to do in the Howard County Public School System as we move forward," Foose told the board prior to its approval. The chief accountability officer position was established as part of Foose's entry plan and realignment structure for the school system.
