Towson University is one of five schools recognized Tuesday by the National Security Agency's National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations Program.
Towson will receive the CAE-Cyber Operations designation for the 2014 through 2019 school years, joining 13 other schools excelling in information assurance research and information assurance education, according to a news release from the NSA.
The program allows designated schools the opportunity to place students in summer internships with the NSA.
In addition to Towson, Tuesday's honorees included New York University, The U.S. Military Academy, The University of Cincinnati and The University of New Orleans.
