A 14-year-old was critically injured while riding on a skateboard and holding onto the back of a vehicle in Ocean City, police said.
At approximately 7:37 p.m. on Thursday, Ocean City police responded to the intersection of Oyster Lane and South Ocean Drive for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on a skateboard, police said.
Investigators say the Timonium boy had been holding onto the back of a car heading west on South Ocean Drive when he lost his footing and fell, resulting in serious injuries. According to police, the victim was not wearing a helmet or any protective safety gear.
The injured teen was transported to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore where he is in critical but stable condition, police said.
Police said there are no charges pending for the driver of the vehicle and alcohol is not believed to have been involved.
