Baltimore man arrested Friday in fatal stabbing of Eastern Shore college student four years ago

A 25-year-old Baltimore man was arrested Friday and charged with stabbing to death a student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore more than four years ago.

State police said they arrested Davonta M. Braxton Friday morning on the university campus in Somerset County. A former student of the university, Braxton was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and assault, police said.

Online court records did not list his attorney Friday.

On the night of Feb. 16, 2013, police say, Edmond St. Clair was in a car traveling across campus when he came upon people walking in the street. The student got out and there was a fight, police said. St. Clair was stabbed in his chest and the 21-year-old died at the hospital.

Investigators found a folding knife at the scene and they said DNA evidence from the knife led them to Braxton. They found additional DNA evidence that belongs to someone unknown, police said.
