Baltimore Police: 2 wounded in morning shootings check themselves into hospitals

Two men were wounded in separate shootings early Monday, police said.

A 26-year-old man checked himself into a hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was immediately taken into surgery, police said. He had been shot 2:14 a.m. at Custom House Avenue and Water Street downtown.

Less than an hour earlier, around 1:30 a.m., a 52-year-old man checked himself into a hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Police said the man was standing near The Johns Hopkins Hospital when a gunman approached and asked for a cigarette. The gunman shot the man then ran from the scene in the 1700 block of East Monument St.

Also Monday, police named two men killed Sunday in separate shootings.

Dashon Griffin, 26, of Westport, was shot and killed on North Spring Street in Southeast Baltimore. Gerald Gardner, 33, was shot and killed outside his home in Clifton Park.

And police named the victim of a deadly car crash on Belair Road early Saturday as Laquisha Anderson, 27, of East Baltimore.
