1 killed, 2 hurt in shootings

A man was killed and another man and woman were shot in separate incidents on Sunday, Baltimore police said.

At about 2:30 p.m. officers found a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the 300 block of Collins Avenue in Irvington. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

About a half hour earlier, police were called to a hospital for a shooting victim. A 32 year-old man told police he was shot in the shoulder in the unit block of North Bruce Street.

Also, a woman was shot in the the city's Central Park Heights neighborhood overnight, police said. Just after midnight, an officer on patrol heard gunfire near the 5100 block of Park Heights Avenue. Nearby, the officer found a woman lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Due to the severity of the victim's injuries, homicide detectives are investigating.

Police found a handgun in the woman's belongings while attempting to locate identification, police said. No identification was found, and detectives are still working to identify the woman.

The shooting took place just hours after the 142nd Preakness Stakes blocks away at Pimlico Race Course.
