Officers were called at 8:45 p.m. to the 100 block of N. Curley St., where they found the victim with an injury to his neck, police said. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
Detectives stood near the Curley Street Grocery store, which was blocked with police tape, at the intersection of Curley and Fayette streets as neighbors looked on silently from their stoops about 45 minutes after the shooting.
