Two men were shot — one of them fatally — in separate incidents in Baltimore Thursday evening, police said.
A man was killed in a shooting in the 1600 block of Wolfe St. in East Baltimore's Broadway East neighborhood around 7:30 p.m. The victim, identified as William Douglass Treadwell, 42, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Homicide detectives photographed evidence markers outside Wolfe Liquors at the corner of East Lanvale and Wolfe streets as neighbors looked on.
Deanna Gibson said she was on her front porch on East Lanvale Street when saw three men she recognized from her neighborhood running up Wolfe Street.
As they neared the liquor store, Gibson said, two guns fired five shots from the direction of Federal Street, and one of the men fell face-first on the sidewalk pavement.
The other two ran to him to check his pulse, while Gibson called 911 from the porch, she said.
Gibson wasn't sure of the victim's name but she said he frequented the Broadway East neighborhood where he was killed. Neither she nor police identified any suspect or motive in the shooting.
"I've been living here for 16 years," the 22-year-old said. "As long as I've been here, I've never know him to have beef with anybody."
The police department's homicide unit is investigating, and anyone with information may call 410-396-2100.
Around 8 p.m., police were called to a hospital where a 46-year-old man had walked in with a gunshot wound to his foot.
He told police the shooting happened in the 3000 block of Clifton Ave., in the Walbrook neighborhood on the southwest side of the city. Investigators later determined the shooting happened in the 2100 block of Rosedale St.
That shooting is also under investigation, and anyone with information may call 410-396-2488.
