Four shot in two incidents in Baltimore Wednesday night

A shooting that killed a man and a triple shooting that injured three people Wednesday night followed another recent stretch of violence in Baltimore.

Detective Angela Carter-Watson, a police spokeswoman, said homicide detectives were investigating the first incident, in which a man was found on the ground, shot multiple times in the upper torso, about 9:50 p.m. in the 2800 block of Ashland Avenue, in the Madison-Eastend neighborhood near Bocek Park. The man was still alive shortly after midnight but police said on Thursday morning that he had succumbed to his injuries.

In the 2900 block of Louden Ave. in Northwest Baltimore police responded to calls of a shooting at about 11:15 p.m. but couldn't find anyone. About 20 minutes later, they responded to another call at Culver Street and Hilton Parkway, where they found three men shot inside a car. Homicide detectives were notified as one of the victims was in critical condition, while the other two victims were stable, police said.

On Thursday, Carter-Watson said, the man most seriously wounded had improved and all three victims were listed in stable condition. Detectives continue to investigate the shootings, she said.

A police investigation revealed that all three victims were in the 2900 block of Loudon Ave., waiting for a friend when an unidentified man approached the vehicle and began shooting. Detectives continue to investigate the triple-shooting.

In another incident, a man was stabbed in the 5600 block of Jonquil Avenue about 10:45 p.m. and taken to a hospital for his injuries, which were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.

The violence follows a string of five shootings in Baltimore from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday morning in which seven people were shot, one fatally, and a man was stabbed and robbed near Patterson Park.
