Police identify officer who shot suspect on bicycle in E. Baltimore Friday

Baltimore police on Sunday identified Jordan G. Moore as the officer who shot a man on a bicycle after he tried to flee when police stopped him in Johnston Square Friday afternoon.

Moore, a five-year veteran of the police force, was one of the officers patrolling the East Baltimore neighorhood around 2 p.m. "for high visibility and to target ongoing crime in the area," Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said the suspect tried to flee when officers tried to stop him, and then produced a handgun. Rodriguez, who leads the department's Professional Standards and Accountability Bureau, said officers found a revolver at the scene.

The suspect has not been identified, and police did not release his condition. It was the sixth police-involved shooting this year.
