A man was critically wounded in a Northwest Baltimore grocery parking lot shooting on Thursday and police said they have a person of interest in custody.
Baltimore police said a man was shot before 11 a.m. in the 3600 block of W. Cold Spring Lane in a bronze Ford sedan parked in an Aldi grocery store parking lot.
As police arrived and began interviewing witnesses, they found a man they described as a "person of interest" in the shooting and took him into custody, Baltimore police spokesman Det. Sgt. Jarron Jackson said. The man was located across Cold Spring Lane at a Shell gas station, Jackson said.
An hour after the reported shooting, Homicide detectives were inspecting the area around the bronze Ford as grocery store customers trickled in and out with carts and crime scene technicians bagged evidence around three yellow evidence markers. The Shell gas station was also restricted by police tape, and detectives could be seen interviewing people there.
Jackson said the investigation is ongoing and detectives plan to inspect surveillance video feeds from area businesses.
"We're asking for the public's help," he said. "It occurred during the day in an area where there could have been a lot of witnesses."
