Homicide investigating shooting in Baltimore's Westport neighborhood

A man was critically injured in a shooting in the Westport neighborhood of south Baltimore on Tuesday night, police said.

The man was found around 7 p.m. in the 2200 block of Annapolis Road. The 26-year-old victim, later identified as Jackie Burris of the 2200 block of Sydney Avenue, was shot in the back and arm and was taken to a hospital.

Homicide detectives are investigating due to the severity of the victim's injuries.

Earlier Tuesday a 41-year-old man was injured in a shooting in East Baltimore.

Officers were called at 12:50 p.m. to the 2000 block of Robb Street, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said the victim was approached by two unidentified suspects who drew their handguns and began shooting at him, knocking him to the ground. The suspects then continued to shoot at the victim, police said, striking him multiple times.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction.
