A 27-year-old man was shot to death in East Baltimore Wednesday, police said.

A 27-year-old man was shot to death in East Baltimore Wednesday morning, police said.

The man was shot in the head about 8:50 a.m. in the 900 block of N. Broadway Street, police said. When officers arrived the man was unresponsive; he was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting occurred at the corner of N Broadway and E. Eager Street just a few blocks from the hospital outside a closed-down Chinese carryout on a mostly vacant block. A nearby corner store employee said he heard two gunshots at about 8:45 a.m. and saw a man dressed in all black who ran east on East Eager Street. Police cars, fire vehicles and an ambulance arrived within five minutes, he said.
