5 shot, 2 fatally, in Baltimore overnight

Police said a man was fatally shot in the head in Broadway East Wednesday.

A man was fatally shot in the head in East Baltimore early Wednesday morning, Baltimore police said.

Officers were called at 12:48 a.m. to the 1500 block of Washington Street in the Broadway East neighborhood where they found Melvin Brown, who had been shot in the head.

Brown, 48, of the 1700 block of Milton Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were later called at 12:50 a.m. to an area hospital where a 22-year-old man who had been shot in the legs and a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the shoulder, were being treated for their injuries during a robbery.

Police said both victims are in stable condition.

The victims were walking in the 3300 block of Walbrook Avenue in Southwest Baltimore when they were approached by three unidentified men wearing masks. Two of the suspects were armed and announced a robbery.

Police said the victims handed over items and attempted to flee when the suspects began shooting at them.

The department on Wednesday also identified two men killed in previous shootings.

Police said Johnny Timmons, 39, of the 1100 block of Darley Avenue, was killed in a shooting Tuesday night.

Timmons and another man were sitting in a black Acura in the 2800 block of Ashland Avenue when they were shot. The other victim, a 50-year-old man, was shot in the stomach but police did not release an update on his condition Wednesday morning.

Police also identified William Johnson, 49, who was fatally shot in the 600 block of East Patapsco Avenue in Brooklyn Sunday.
