Brother of Baltimore rapper Young Moose killed in Belair-Edison Tuesday night

A man was shot and killed in Northeast Baltimore Tuesday night, police said.

The victim in a killing in Belair-Edison Tuesday night was the brother of popular Baltimore rapper Young Moose, police confirmed Wednesday.

Kevin Evans Jr., 26, was shot shortly before 10 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sheldon Avenue and taken to the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died, police said. His 22-year-old brother, whose real name is Kevron Evans, is one of the city's most high-profile rappers.

Both Evans brothers and their mother and father were acquitted of all charges by a circuit court judge in a March trial stemming from a drug raid on the family's Northeast Baltimore home. Police said the raid was based in part on the depictions of guns and drugs in Moose's music videos.

Tyler Mann, the attorney who represented Kevin Evans in that case, said he was "extremely sad" to learn of his death.

"Kevin was a super nice kid," he said.

Kevron Evans is being held on no bail in an unrelated drug and gun case, following a separate raid on his mother's house. His attorney, Richard C. B. Woods, said Kevin Evans' death was "very shocking news to me."

The family was not immediately available for comment Wednesday morning.
