Man killed in shooting on New Year's Eve identified

Homicide detectives were called to a shooting in Poppleton on New Year's Eve.

City police on Saturday identified a man was shot to death in West Baltimore on New Year's Eve.

Police said Jameel Woodard, 37, was found by officers about 8:15 p.m. to the first block of N. Poppleton St. He had been shot several times.

Ma'ryan Wilson, 23, was killed in the same neighborhood, on the nearby 800 block of W. Lexington St., on Saturday, police said. It's unclear whether the two shootings were related.

Police had reported 344 homicides in Baltimore on the last day of 2015, the city's deadliest year in killings per capita.
