Sex worker sentenced for stabbing to death client in Baltimore

A 35-year-old man from North Baltimore, who told police he was a sex worker, was sentenced Friday to life in prison for the fatal stabbing of a client, prosecutors said.

Jamison Deberry pleaded guilty in June to murdering James Dews, 51, in November 2015. Deberry stabbed Dews and left him dead inside a home in the East Arlington neighborhood of Northwest Baltimore, prosecutors said.

Injured in the killing, Deberry called his girlfriend to pick him up from the home in the 4000 block of Grantley Road, prosecutors said. The couple got lost on the way to the hospital and ended up at a fire station on Reisterstown Road.

Deberry told police different versions of Dews’ death, initially claiming he killed the man in self-defense.
