Couple assaulted, robbed in Brooklyn area

Anne Arundel County police say a man and woman were assaulted and robbed in an incident Saturday evening in the Brooklyn area.

Police said at about 7:12 p.m., a man and woman had been walking in the 300 block of Edison Street when two men came from an alley. One of the men struck the man in the head with a blunt object. He fell to the ground and one of the suspects pointed a handgun at him, police said. The suspect then went through the man's pockets, taking personal items and an undetermined amount of cash.

The second assailant approached the woman and struck her in her head and face with his fist, police said, He then pointed a handgun at the woman and grabbed her purse. Both then fled on foot.

Patrol units, a K-9 unit and the Baltimore City Police Department Aviation Unit canvassed the area, but could not located the suspects. The victims indicated they were not injured and refused medical treatment. The investigation is continuing.
