A man on a bicycle was critically wounded when he was shot near the Old Town Mall.
The victim, shot multiple times in the chest and torso, was listed in critical but stable condition at an area hospital, Baltimore police spokeswoman Det. Sgt. Sarah Connolly said. The shooting occurred about 3 p.m. in the 1200 block of E. Monument St. in East Baltimore.
Detectives took cell phone photos of a red BMX bike at the crime scene while they looked under nearby park benches for evidence. The shooting site was located next to Dunbar High School's football field and across from the Old Town Flava Barbershop.
Police have no suspects. Eastern District detectives are investigating. The shooting was the second at the blighted and mostly empty outdoor mall in a week.
On June 9, a man was shot in the leg at about 1:30 p.m.
Detectives were also investigating a double shooting late Sunday in the Harwood neighborhood.
An adult male suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and a 17-year-old boy was struck in the right hip near the intersection of E. 27th and Barclay streets, police said. Police learned of the shooting at about 11:25 p.m. after both victims had arrived at hospitals on their own.
Both victims were lisited in stable condition, police said on Monday. Detectives have no suspects in the shooting.
