Two city shootings result in one dead, another injured

A person was killed and another shot in two incidents in Baltimore on Friday, police said.

A 21-year-old man was reported shot in the head in Northeast Baltimore, police said. The man was taken to the hospital where he died, and homicide detectives were called to the scene in the 3100 block of Brendan Ave. in Belair-Edison, according to police.

Earlier a 19-year-old man was shot in the back in East Baltimore, police said.

The man was walking in the 1400 block of E. Lanvale Ave. in the Oliver neighborhood just after 5 p.m. when an unknown suspect shot him before fleeing, said Detective Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman.

The victim is expected to survive, he said. Eastern District detectives were investigating.
