Woodmoor Elementary School placed on lockdown briefly

Woodmoor Elementary School in Lochearn was placed on lockdown briefly Monday after a 14-year-old boy was spotted with a BB gun outside the school, Baltimore County police said.

School officials put the building at 3200 Elba Drive on lockdown shortly before 4 p.m., after classes were over for the day, said Cpl. Cathy Batton, a police spokeswoman.

"At no point was the school threatened," Batton said.

The boy had discussed the gun with some girls near the school as he waited for his little brother, she said. She said it was unclear Monday whether the teen faces any criminal charges.

Responding officers searched the area and were unable to find the teen but got a description of him from witnesses. Police identified the teen and located him.
