A man accused of attempted rape of a 98-year-old woman in her Rodgers Forge home was arrested Wednesday morning, Baltimore County police said.
Tips led county police to Baltimore City where they arrested 50-year-old Paul Earnest Howard Jr. in connection with the April 26 assault. He was questioned by detectives and is scheduled to have a bail hearing Wednesday.
Firefighters had found the victim lying on the floor inside her home in the 200 block of Gaywood Road shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday after receiving a medical alert call. She told police she had been thrown to the ground by a man claiming to be selling home-improvement services, whom police later determined to be Howard.
Howard, who has no fixed addressed listed, is charged attempted first-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, first-degree assault and theft less than $110.
Howard does not have an attorney listed in court records. A public defender who previously represented him on burglary charges last year declined to comment on that case on Tuesday.
