Baltimore County police have discovered a man's body in a wooded area near where the remains of a human hand were found several days earlier, police said.
Detectives, with the help of volunteers, located the unidentified body around 11:30 a.m. Saturday near Hanover Pike and Butler Road, said Lt. Robert McCullough. He said police believe the body and hand are the same person, "but additional testing is being done" and police are continuing their investigation.
Police returned to the area near the 300 block of Hedgepocket Way in the Reisterstown area, where a landscaper found the hand on a lawn on Wednesday, to conduct the search, after the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the hand as human, he said. The body was located a few hundred yards from the where the hand was found, he said.
The cause of death was not immediately known, and the body has been sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy, McCullough said.
