A man was shot overnight in Northeast Baltimore during an apparent armed robbery.
Baltimore police say the shooting was reported at 2:49 a.m. in the 1200 block of Beaumont Ave. in the New Northwood neighborhood. Police found a man inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest.
The victim told police he was with friends when three unidentified suspects wearing dark clothing and masks came from the rear of the apartment complex, crept alongside the building and demanded their property. Two of the suspects flashed guns, police said.
The victim and his friends refused to comply and one of the suspects fired twice, striking the victim in the left side of his chest. After shooting, the suspect fled around the back of the building, police said.
The victim is being treated at an area hospital. Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to reach Northeast District detectives at 410-396-2444.
