A 17-year-old was shot in his neck in Southwest Baltimore on Friday night, according to Baltimore Police.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Arunah Avenue in the city's Franklintown Road neighborhood about 7:29 p.m. and located the teen with the gunshot wound, said Detective Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman.

The teen told officers he was "approached by an unknown suspect who shot him before fleeing the location," police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, Silbert said.

Detectives from the Southwest District were investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-396-2488.
