One woman has died from her injuries after a triple shooting during a home invasion in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
Police said a suspect entered a home in the 3800 block of 8th St. in Brooklyn about 10:30 p.m. and shot the woman, a man, and a girl whose age police did not provide. The girl remained in critical condition at a hospital Wednesday, while the man suffered injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.
The woman who was killed was identified as Johniece Sheppard, 21, and police said she was pronounced dead at a hospital about a half-hour after the shooting.
Police said they have identified a suspect but did not release an identity or description. Police also did not release a motive but said investigators do not believe the shooting was a random event. Anyone with information may call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
Family members of Sheppard could not be reached Wednesday.
Sheppard's death was the first homicide in Baltimore since March 17 and the fifth homicide this month amid a recent slowing of violence in Baltimore. Of the 42 homicides in the city in 2014, four of the deceased have been women.
