Police arrested a man suspected in a December shooting that left a 30-year-old man dead in East Baltimore's Coldstream Homestead Montebello neighborhood, the department announced Wednesday night.

Alonzo Purnell Harris, 23, of the 1700 block of E. 30th St., has been charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 19 killing of Devlon Cates, Jr., police said.

Cates was found around 1:30 p.m. with seven gunshot wounds in a Honda Oddysey minivan in the 1500 block of E. 29th St., police said. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died.

Police said an investigation including at least one witness account linked Harris to the killing.

Harris, who was convicted in 2008 of armed robbery and assault, faces three felony gun charges in addition to first-degree murder.
