City police were investigating the discovery of a man's body found Monday afternoon floating in the water near the Harbor East area — the second found there in a week.
Det. Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman, said the body was found at about 3:30 p.m. off Lancaster Street. The department's marine unit retrieved it from the water. He said there were no obvious signs of foul play but authorities were investigating.
Last week, on Tuesday, the body of 58-year-old Douglas Paige was found in the same area. Police said at the time that there were no signs of foul play in that case, either. On Monday, police said the medical examiner's office had not yet determined a cause of death.
Silbert said detectives will look for any potential connections between the two cases.
The waterfront stretch along Lancaster Street is a popular night life destination, home to several restaurants such as RA Sushi Bar and Gordon Biersch. The water there is largely separated from the Inner Harbor by piers where boats are docked.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
