Anne Arundel County detectives are investigating three armed robberies that took place in quick succession Friday night, police said.
Detectives think that the robberies are all connected, police spokesman Lt. Richard Duvall said.
The first robbery happened at a BP gas station in the 8600 block of Veterans Highway around 7 p.m., police said. An employee told officers that a man came in armed with a gun, stole an undetermined amount of money and fled toward some woods, according to police.
About two hours later, two men carrying guns attempted to rob a Wendy's on Ritchie Highway less than nine miles from the BP station, according to police. But the clerk ran away and the robbers were unable to open the cash register so they ran away as well, police said.
Then, about 20 minutes after officers had responded to the Wendy's, they got a call about a robbery at a Dunkin Donuts five miles south down Ritchie Highway. Two men came into the store and took some money before heading toward a bowling alley, police said.
Officers with dogs searched the areas around each business but were unable to find any suspects.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
