Federal and local authorities have charged more than two dozen people this week after an investigation into drug trafficking and related crimes in Anne Arundel County and Annapolis.
Federal indictments were returned Tuesday against eight people from a probe into an alleged drug ring, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Baltimore. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led law enforcement officers in serving federal search warrants at 10 locations and seven vehicles, some of them homes and vehicles of the federal defendants, the federal prosecutor's office said.
Also stemming from the investigation, about 20 people face state charges. More than a dozen were arrested or already jailed or still being sought on the state charges, Annapolis police said Thursday.
Charges in the federal indictments that have been unsealed include drug trafficking and gun violations, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Also, Annapolis police said they recovered 38 guns and that state charges include weapons violations.
