Youths carjack school bus in West Baltimore

A group of youths attacked a school bus driver and briefly took the vehicle for a joyride Thursday afternoon in West Baltimore, police confirmed.

Three teenagers were taken into custody, and the driver suffered minor injuries, police said.

At about 2:35 p.m., police said the bus was parked in the 700 block of W. Lexington St. when a group of youths got onto the bus and assaulted the driver. The driver was the only person on the bus at the time, police said.

The driver got off the bus, and the youths drove the bus around the block, returning to the 700 block of W. Lexington St., police said. They then ran from the area, where three were caught by police.

The incident will be listed as a carjacking, and detectives from the citywide robbery unit were investigating.
