Police blotter: Robberies for the week of Aug. 23

The Southeastern District was clobbered with robberies for the week ending Aug. 23, Police Department statistics show - part of a wave that saw 83 robberies across the city. That was a 17 percent increase over the previous week.

Canton alone saw seven robberies, comprising four incidents. Three people were robbed in Fells Point, while two robberies each were reported in Greektown, Highlandtown, Butcher's Hill, and the Patterson Park Neighborhood.

Downtown also saw six robberies, while the Northeastern District experienced 13. The Southwestern District saw the fewest, with three robberies.

The 83 robberies were an increase from the 71 reported the prior week. During the same time frame last year, the city saw 86 robberies, and overall incidents remain down 15 percent for the year, according to preliminary statistics. 

A sampling of the incidents (details of the incidents were not available):

-Someone was robbed in Wyman Park, in the 600 block of W. 33rd St., at 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 17.

-A knifepoint robbery occurred in Ridgely's Delight in the 400 block of Russell St. on Aug. 17 at 4:30 a.m.

-Someone was robbed in the 400 block of S. Bond St., in Fells Point, on Aug. 17 at 9 a.m. The type of weapon is listed as "other."

-The first of the robberies in Canton occurred on Aug. 18 at 10 p.m., in the 3300 block of O'Donnel St. The other incidents occurred Aug. 22 at 12:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Foster Ave., a double-robbery, at gunpoint, in the 2600 block of Boston St. on Aug. 22 at 9:25 p.m., and a triple robbery, at gunpoint, in the 900 block of S. Clinton St. on Aug. 22 at 2:30 a.m.

-Someone was held up at gunpoint in the 700 block of N. Howard St. in Mount Vernon on Aug. 18 at 1:30 p.m.

-Two home invasions were reported in the Franklin Square neighborhood - the first occurred Aug. 17 at 2:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St. The second was reported Aug. 18 at 4:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Penrose Ave. 

-Someone was robbed at gunpoint at 9:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of Hilton Rd., in the East Arlington neigborhood.

-Someone was robbed at gunpoint in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Ave. on Aug. 18 at 12:03 a.m.

-Knifepoint robberies occurred downtown and in Mid-Town Belvedere around mid-day on Aug. 19, with a robbery reported in the 400 block of N. Eutaw St. at 12:10 p.m. and another at 1 p.m. in the 1100 block of Guilford Ave. 

-Two people were held up in the 2800 block of Hollins Ferry Rd. on Aug. 18 at 5 a.m., in the Lakeland neighborhood.

-A business was held up at gunpoint in Brooklyn, on Aug. 19 at 9:45 p.m. in the 500 block of E. Patapsco Ave. 

-A business was robbed in Fallstaff, in the 6900 block of Reisterstown Rd., on Aug. 20 at 11:45 a.m. The weapon listed is "other." Police later said this robbery occurred at the Wireless Depot at 6970 Reisterstown Road and are asking for help identifying the suspect.

-Someone was held up in the 2200 block of E. Coldspring Lane, in the Morgan Park neighborhood, on Aug. 20 at 12:50 p.m.

-A carjacking was reported in the 600 block of Edgewood St. in the Edgewood neighborhood on Aug. 21 at 11:40 p.m.

-Someone was held up at gunpoint in the Hillen neighborhood in the 1600 block of Northwick Rd. on Aug. 21 at 12:30 a.m.

-A gunpoint robbery in Greektown was reported on Aug. 22 at 3:30 a.m. in the 600 block of S. Macon St.

-Someone was robbed in Fells Point in the 900 block of S. Caroline St. at 10:16 p.m. on Aug. 22;another was reported in the 600 block kof S. Washington St. at 1 a.m. 

-A knifepoint carjacking occurred in the 2500 block of Hermosa Ave. in Lauraville on Aug. 23 at 2:53 a.m.

-Someone was robbed on the campus of Morgan State University at 10 a.m. on Aug. 23. The address listed was 1900 E. Coldspring Lane. Robberies were also reported that day in the 5900 block of Loch Raven Blvd. and the 7600 block of Harford Rd., the latter which was a commercial armed robbery.

-Two robberies were reported in the Mosher neighborhood on Aug. 23, just minutes apart. At 8:30 p.m., someone was held up at gunpoint in the 2600 block of Mosher St. Five minutes later, another armed robbery was reported in the 900 block of Ashburton St. 

-An armed robbery was reported in Better Waverly on Aug. 23 at 10:15 p.m., in the 3000 block of Loch Raven Blvd.
