A man was reported shot Friday morning on Greenmount Avenue, near the state prison complex in the Penn-Fallsway neighborhood. Few details were available; police said the shooting occurred about 7:30 a.m.
The victim's condition was not immediately known, but police said district detectives were handling, indicating the injuries were not serious enough to involve require the homicide unit. It occurred outside the pre-release center, from which detainees are processed before being freed.
Authorities could not say whether the shooting was related to the prison or the many buildings associated with the correctional department.
It occurred in the 900 block of Greenmount Ave., between East Monument and East Madison streets, along a block that includes the Baltimore City Detention Center and the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
