Three shot in South Baltimore's Brooklyn neighborhood

Three men were shot - one fatally, and another who was critically injured - in two incidents in South Baltmore's Brooklyn neighborhood, near the Anne Arundel County line.

The first shooting appeared to have occurred inside a residence, with a 19-year-old man found by patrol officers at about 11 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip inside of a residence in the 800 block of Stoll St., police said.

Less than three hours later, two men were shot in the 4300 block of 6th St, just a few blocks away. A 35-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were found suffering from gunshot wounds and transported to area hospitals; the 35-year-old man had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, while the second victim was listed in critical condition.

Police did not identify the victim who died, pending notification of his next of kin, but investigators believe the motive was a drug dispute. Detectives are investigating the case and asked anyone with information to call 410-396-2100, where they can remain anonymous.

Police were also investigating another non-fatal shooting in East Baltimore, which occurred at about 1:15 a.m. in the 2500 block of E. Biddle St. Police said a patrol officer was driving on nearby Milton St. when he heard five to six gunshots and saw several males running away. Officers found a 27-year-old suffering from two gunshot wounds, and he was expected to survive.

The shootings occurred a day after three people were shot - one who was killed - in a home invasion in North Baltimore. For the year, homicides are down, with 112 people slain in Baltimore compared with 115 on this date last year. Non-fatal shootings were also down about 10 percent as of July 16, police statistics show.
