The Banfield Pet Hospital, with 25 locations statewide, has opened its first Carroll County hospital in Westminster.
To celebrate its newest location, Banfield will host a grand opening Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., including refreshments, contests, giveaways, "Ask-the-Vet" sessions, and hospital tours.
The hospital is located in Cranberry Plaza at 405 N. Center St. in Westminster.
Banfield offers preventive care services that include annual examinations, nutrition counseling, dental exams, and surgery. Amenities at the Westminster location include separate dog and cat examination rooms, boarding areas that play pet-friendly videos, a children's FutureVet play center and a complimentary coffee bar.
The hospital also offers a Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan, a comprehensive package of veterinary services that provide Westminster pet owners with year-round preventive care.
Banfield will be providing free veterinary services to the Humane Society of Carroll County during the week of Jan. 5 and will be donating 20 percent of Banfield's opening weekend revenue to the organization.
"We look forward to assisting local pet owners in the Westminster area by providing quality veterinary care for their pets," hospital chief of staff Dr. Kenyon Brewer said in a statement. "Our focus is to offer preventive care services for pets and establish personal relationships with pet owners."
Banfield, founded in Portland, Oregon in 1955, operates more than 830 hospitals nationwide while caring for 2.5 million pets annually.
The hospital will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Drop-off hours begin at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
