A fire in the basement of a home on Eckard Court in Westminster late Wednesday caused about $25,000 in damages, according to a notice of investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

The cause of the fire, which started in a basement bedroom around 11:16 p.m., is under investigation, according to the State Fire Marshal.

It took 20 firefighters about 45 minutes to control the fire in the single-family home, fire officials said.
