Starry Night nets $96,500 for Carroll Community College

The Starry Night Gala, hosted annually by the Carroll Community College Foundation, brought in $96,500 for the foundation this year.

This year's event was the most successful yet for the college, topping last year's result of $83,500, according to Steven Wantz, executive director of the foundation.

The holiday kick-off event, featuring live performances and a silent auction, is the foundation's largest fundraising event.

According to the college's website, the fundraiser "enables the Foundation to help numerous students; purchase specialized instructional equipment; and help the college continue to grow and improve an already high-quality learning environment."

College President Faye Pappalardo called the event a "wonderful, wonderful night," adding that people are still telling her how great the night was.

"It was just remarkable," Pappalardo said.

This year's event featured the Broadway Tenors and attracted more than 400 guests.

Now in its eighth year, Starry Night has raised about $500,000 for the community college foundation.
