Members of the Carroll County Senate Delegation will meet with the Board of County Commissioners Jan. 23 to discuss the proposed legislative package.
The previously scheduled meeting in December was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Senate Delegation has already pre-filed two local bills, including the charitable gaming and raising court fees bills.
These bills would enable charitable organizations to host card game or casino night fundraisers and increase civil and criminal fees for appearance of counsel in court from $10 to $20 to provide funding for the public law library.
The gaming bill has a hearing scheduled for Jan.22 in the Senate budget and tax committee, while the counsel fees bill has a hearing scheduled for Jan. 21 in the judicial proceedings committee.
The Carroll House Delegation voted Jan. 10 to approve all pieces of local legislation, including the gaming and counsel fees bills.
The Senate Delegation will be hosting its annual public hearing on the proposed legislative package Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. The hearing will take place inside the public hearing room of the Carroll County Government Office Building in Westminster.
Citizens are invited to hear the presentation on the legislation and provide testimony on the proposals.
In addition to the gaming and counsel fees bills, local legislation includes:
• A bill to raise the county Sheriff's salary from $75,910 to $90,000 in 2015
• A bill to that would cover the county's Industrial Development Authority under the Local Government Tort Claims Act, thus lowering the authority's cost of insurance
• The county's annual public facilities bond request
