The Board of Carroll County Commissioners will host a public forum Wednesday to discuss and possibly vote on a resolution opposing the state's recently passed Firearm Safety Act of 2013.
"The Second Amendment is not ambiguous," Commissioner Richard Rothschild said in a statement, "and the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. However, the Constitution will not enforce itself, so it's time for local officials to take a stand in defense of our freedoms."
Cecil County passed a similar resolution opposing the state's gun control measures May 10.
The forum is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Carroll Community College.
All five county commissioners came out in support of the resolution through a county press release Thursday.
"Our citizens understand the Constitution, and will not tolerate attacks on the Second Amendment by state government," Commissioner Robin Frazier said. "Lately, all of our constitutional rights are being infringed, and if we lose the second amendment, we are in danger of losing all of our rights."
