White's family reported him missing to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 2, according to a news release from the Maryland State Police.
An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but the cause and manner of death is pending the results of a toxicology report and other testing, according to the release.
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play.
White's body was partially decomposed when it was found just before 10 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area behind his residence in the 300 block of Kirkhoof Road. There was no identification found in White's clothing or in the immediate area, according to police.
Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit are working in conjunction with investigators from the Sheriff's Office. They are conducting interviews and examining evidence collected at the scene.
