If you'd like to learn more about local history, the new Carroll County Historical Society website may be of interest to you.
The Historical Society launched the new website last month with information not previously posted online, such as past issues of the society's scholarly newsletter, "History Journal," updated Carroll County history and decades of columns from local newspapers.
Linda Conroy, of Daydreaming Studio in Westminster, who also serves as the Historical Society's communications consultant and designed the new page, said the old site was "functional, somewhat clumsy, but lacking design and personality."
"We worked through hundreds of documents, reformating them to work with our new website and filtered through many other documents that needed updating," Conroy said in a statement. "Our goal was to create an attractive user-friendly site with room for future expansion."
The header of every page is a unique photo from the Historical Society's archives and may be purchased through an online store simply by clicking the picture.
Conroy said the historical society will continue to develop the site by adding more content, photos and video.
"We've needed this better ability to connect Society members with our programming for som time," Teeter said in a statement. "We welcome feedback and look forward to making even more improvements."Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
