Storm closes Carroll schools, McDaniel

Carroll County Public Schools were closed Monday because of a snowstorm that belted the county.

Liberal leave was in effect for employees, according to a message on the school system website. East Middle School students are scheduled to go to Outdoor School on Tuesday.

Carroll County is under a winter storm warning with more than five inches of snow expected.

McDaniel College also closed and canceled evening classes, according to spokeswoman Cheryl Knauer.

Carroll Community College and the Mount Airy College Center are also closed, and all classes and activities are canceled. Students should check Blackboard for information from their instructors.

All Carroll County Public Library branches are closed as well.
