The Carroll Arts Center and McDaniel College will be hosting the 11th annual Foreign Film Festival on Fridays throughout February.
This year, the festival features films from Denmark, France and Russia. Films were chosen by Film Lovers in Carroll County (FLICC).
The festival, sponsored by McDaniel, will host two showings of each film every Friday. Shows are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with tickets costing $6 for adults and $5 for Arts Center members, children under 18, and seniors.
Tickets are available online or at the box office.
Discounts are offered for purchasing tickets for the entire series. McDaniel students and faculty are admitted free with school ID.
The series begins with the film that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in the previous year. All films are shown with English subtitles.
The schedule is as follows;
• Feb. 7 - "Armour" France, 2012: PG-13, 127 minutes
-An octogenarian couple’s bond of love is severely tested as the woman battles the effects of a stroke and her husband attempts to honor his pledge to care for her in the home. A deeply moving story of undying love.
• Feb. 14 - "Love is All you Need" Denmark, 2012: R, 116 minutes
-A hairdresser who has lost her hair to cancer finds out her husband is having an affair, travels to Italy for her daughter's wedding and meets a widower who still blames the world for the loss of his wife.
• Feb. 21 - "Tell No One" France, 2006: unrated, 131 minutes
-A pediatrician who is mourning his beloved wife after she was brutally murdered becomes the prime suspect. Years later he finds that she may still be alive. A compelling murder mystery!
• Feb. 28 - "The Italian" Russia, 2005: PG-13, 90 minutes
-A heartwarming film about a 5-year old Russian boy living in a rundown orphanage who is adopted by an Italian family.
